Grants 36.6% · Seed Funds 24.4%… Biohealthcare Ranks First in the Field

According to data compiled by Startup Recipe, 41 domestic startups attracted investment between August 3 and 7, 2026. Among them, the 12 companies that disclosed their investment amounts secured a total of 216.35 billion won. In terms of funding stage distribution, grants, including TIPS, accounted for the highest share at 36.6%, followed by seed funding at 24.4%. Combined, these two categories accounted for 61%, meaning the early-stage stage exceeded half of the total. By sector, bio-healthcare led the pack at 29.3%, followed by consumer tech at 22%, software at 19.5%, and manufacturing at 12.2%.

The largest deal of the week was 44.3 billion won… 4 companies raised over 10 billion won

The company that raised the largest amount during this period was Innocras, a big data company specializing in cancer genomics. Innocras secured $31 million in its Series B-3 round, bringing its total investment raised to $100 million. The converted amount in Korean Won varies by media outlet, ranging from 44.35 billion KRW to 45.1 billion KRW. B-Innovation, which operates a digital healthcare platform, raised 15 billion KRW, while Ready Robust Machine, a hardware company specializing in energy efficiency for heavy equipment, raised 13.4 billion KRW in Series B. Modhouse, a fan-participatory entertainment company, received 10 billion KRW in a follow-up investment from Series B, increasing its total investment for that round to 31 billion KRW.

Proportion of deals over 10 billion KRW rose from 77.3% to 93.0% in the first half… Number of deals decreased by 5.4%

The weekly strength in the early stages points in a direction different from the annual trend. According to data compiled by TheVC, investment in domestic unlisted companies in the first half of 2026 reached 7.8005 trillion won, already surpassing the annual investment of 6.9358 trillion won in 2025. However, the number of investment deals decreased by 5.4% compared to the same period last year. Deals exceeding 10 billion won totaled 141, a 67% increase from the previous year, and their share of the total investment rose from 77.3% to 93.0%. The amount excluding existing share acquisitions and equity/token exchanges also stood at 5.5692 trillion won, double the 2.4787 trillion won recorded in the same period last year.
Investment statistics for the first week of August show that early-stage firms still account for the majority in terms of the number of deals. However, cumulative data for the first half of the year confirms a structure where funds are concentrated in higher rounds, with large deals exceeding 10 billion won absorbing 93% of the total amount. The gap between the increase in total investment and the financing environment experienced by individual early-stage companies is expected to persist for the time being.
