100% Equity Acquisition · Founder Joins as CTO… Integrated Platform to Launch in July

AI pet healthcare startup Limpid has acquired a 100% stake in Petpeotalk, an AI video analysis company for pets, and with the addition of Petpeotalk CEO Kwon Ryun-hwan, the company plans to launch an integrated AI monitoring and precision nutrition platform in July. Petpeotalk is a pet tech startup established in 2019 that operates 'Dogibogi,' an AI pet CCTV that recognizes pet behavior using video analysis technology, and has received investments from Naver D2SF, The Invention Lab, and others.

Adding Image Detection Capabilities to Limpid's 'Precision Nutrition'

Limpid, a pet food and healthcare company founded by veterinarians, is acquiring image detection technology and integrating it into the precision nutrition platform it has been developing. Earlier in April, Limpid was selected by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs as the lead organization for the "Technology Development Project to Overcome Intractable Diseases in Companion Animals," securing up to 5.1 billion won in R&D funding. The company is currently overseeing the development of a "Multimodal AI-based Precision Nutrition Management Platform" that combines AI image analysis with veterinary insights. The plan is to complete a "Detection-Warning-Response-Repeat" loop that identifies "digital biomarkers" capable of detecting disease signs early and connects them to personalized precision nutrition. With the acquisition of PetPeoTalk, the company has effectively internalized the "detection" stage of this loop as its own capability.

Expanding via M&A Amidst an Investment Frost… Integration Synergy is Key

Amidst a increasingly stringent investment environment, a strategy of startups directly acquiring external technologies to expand their business scope is emerging in the pet tech sector as well. Limpid is preparing for global expansion, having completed a 1.4 billion won Pre-A investment last year and obtained the U.S. FDA Food Facility Registration (FFR) for its proprietary freeze-drying facility. However, whether the combination of video monitoring and nutritional solutions translates into actual user value depends on the completeness of the integrated platform launching in July.
Limpid's acquisition of PetPeoTalk is an attempt to vertically integrate the pet healthcare value chain by combining data collection (video) and solution provision (nutrition) within a single company. The ecosystem is noteworthy as it represents a case of startups strengthening their competitiveness through a merger amidst a harsh investment climate.
